This was the web presence of the german ngo STOP1984

STOP1984 was discontinued as an active group in early 2008 when it became clear that most of the political goals

• were succesfully achieved
• were persued more effectively by meanwhile founded other organisations
• were not going to be achieved via the selected methods of choice

This server was kept running as an archive that documented the systematic slow change of our society towards a system of extensive information surveillance and control, referencing thousands of relevant news articles over more than half a decade.

In late July 2008 this server encountered a fatal hard disk crash, eradicating the archive and all online remains of STOP1984, its main mirror had been unreachable for over 2 years at that time.

No recent backups are currently available, making restoration of the news archive impossible at this point.
